Good Sam’s Sister Fran Gorsuch received the Commitment to Excellence Award for her outstanding support of Project SEARCH, a collaborative program run in partnership with Rockland BOCES and RCALD.
Good Samaritan Hospital Director of Community Initiatives Sister Fran Gorsuch was honored by Rockland BOCES administrators and Board members with the Commitment to Excellence Award on Wednesday, October 14.
Sister Fran is the hospital’s lead on Project SEARCH, a collaborative,
career exploration program launched in 2011, with Rockland BOCES and the Rockland County Association for Learning Disabilities. Project SEARCH interns rotate among a variety of work sites, based on students’ experiences, strengths and skills, where they work closely with hospital staff. Throughout the past four years, Sister Fran has been a highly engaged advocate for the program.
“Her dedication and commitment are beyond measure,” said Project SEARCH Program Coordinator Dawn Kitz, who nominated Sister Fran for the award. “Whether Sister Fran is conducting the yearly orientation for our interns or celebrating with us at graduation and holiday parties, she gets to know each and every one of the interns and their families. All of our students have benefited from her devotion to this program; she goes above and beyond whenever she can and helps our interns realize their dreams.”
